I only started reading until I started to notice my grades were dropping because of these reading logs. So I noticed one thing, though. I read much better in the bathroom, so I was in there a little longer than usual. So the quote from the book I had today was

"Marley didn't actually wag his tail. It immediately caught my attention when I read. This little bit was an actual letter by Chris McCandless (Alex) to Westerberg. I wondered, "Why does he have to go on a journey like this?" The front of the book states that he gave up almost everything he had and went on a journey into the wild. But why? This man really must've hit himself in the head. I really want to know why!

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 for Dummies: Reading Log #14?

I didn't expect that we were going to do a reading journal in class for the enjoyment reading book. That fact wouldn't have bothered me; it's the fact that we have to do it in "Q-Q-C" format that bothers me. Why? It's because I brought a book that not that good for a format like this.

So I start with a quote. This quote did not actually come straight from the text itself but for a small caption under a picture. The caption said "Just how accurately should my Web site reflect my place of business?" and it was placed under a picture of someone on his computer who was in the world's trashiest cubicle. I giggled.

So I have a question. I have been reading this book for I wanted to make a website for my church, but it leaves me with this, "Does my website have to reflect my workspace?". My room (yes, I make a church website in my room) can be confused for a trash can. It's like a tornado went through it. So must my website look like a big trash can? Very strange. It must be a weird company rule.

"I don't really like this Q-Q-C format thing"

Media

Media.

What it anyway? I finally finished Twilight because I had so much more time during winter break. My sister already bought New Moon, so I decided to read it too. Now here I am reading another love story.

New Moon is the sequel to the #1 New York Times bestseller Twilight. As I read the first few 100 pages, it didn't feel like a sequel much. I got a little relived when Edward left because the story got a little more interesting. With Jacob, New Moon feels much less of an extension of Twilight.

So far, I think Jacob is much cooler. He makes Bella more human and not really a freak.

That's all I got to say. I'm hoping to finish the entire series soon.

Book(s) for winter break

For Winter break, I plan to finish these books:

First of all I want to finish Twilight

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic; Must I mention the name? I got a cheap $5 version (hooray for Sam's Club!).I'm around chapter 7 already. My 12 year old sister who read it later than me is already finished. shame.

Well I was kinda disappointed when I found out it was a love story. I'm usually too manly for that. *cough* It still has a good story, though. It always is filling me with suspense, especially Edward. I pretty much know that Edward is a vampire and that Jacob is a werewolf thanks to talkative people. Sometimes I don't know where the story's leading to. It all seems like just Bella's life from her perspective (Tell me I'm wrong). I actually finished over half the book in less than 2 hours. This may not suprise anyone, but it did suprise me a lot. Normally, it would take a little over a week to finish a novel. This encouraged me to read more books to enjoy them.

I really thought the book was interesting. Jonas (the main character) had the same opinion about his life as soon as he realized the truth about the world. The end of the book really left me hanging. I'm not sure if it was a happy ending or not.
Louis Lowry said the ending was all up to the readers. I would've made it a happy ending.

(I neeeeeeeeeeeed a copy of Twilight NOW!!!)

Reading Log #10

I haven't been reading for a while, so I'm still reading the Giver. Let's just say I had an, er..... busy week. I haven't got really quite far though, to be honest, and I almost have to return the book to the library.

I did have some changed thoughts about the book. I used to visualize the setting as very vast and rural, but I think that it might in fact be a bit more suburban. I also had some second thoughts about living there. It might actually be cool. I won't get discriminated that's for sure, and people will have to apologize to me if they see me naked. Another reason is because the rules aren't as strict and enforced as it seems.

That's all I got to say. The man on the cover had an awsome beard. Also, my 6th grade teacher read this to us before, but me being me, I don't listen.

I read a little snippet of it. The first chapter almost tells me everything about the setting. I kept thinking to myself as I read- HOW CAN YOU LIVE A LIFE LIKE THIS!!! Everyone in the book

talked so perfectly. Their ways of life just creep me out. If I lived in there, I'd want to be "released". They'll feel bad for me, but I'll be happy. Here's my summary on the setting- they're a cult.

It could change though. It said on the back of the book that Jonas (the protagonist) learns "the truth".

The Arrival: Reading Log #8

I picked up this book a few days ago because it was recommended to me. It looked interesting so I got it. The reason why it was so interesting is because this book has no words. That's right, NO WORDS, and if there were it was not in English. Don't believe me? Here's a typical page of it.

That's it. And don't think it's one of this little kiddie books with pictures on every page. It has an "adult" story that's pretty cool.
I love this book. I read it about 3 times already. the third time, i changed the story by interpreting the pictures in a different way. It became "The Arrival of the Doo Doo". I read it to my sister and we cracked up.

Photo Blog

For homework, we had to study these vocab words:

alacrity

belligerent

conceit

cynical

despairing

diligent

epitaph

languid

legacy

lugubrious

muse

savant

sentinel

shrill

unobtrosive

vestiges

then we had to choose 3 then get pictures of them.

Here are the words with their corresponding pictures.

belligerent

<img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_LMZ8wDfhPO0/SPVpIub9TrI/AAAAAAAAACE/js4ZhwRKUI0/s320/300-movie-400a0309.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; So I decided to read Naruto- a manga by Masashi Kishimoto. I've watched the anime cartoon before, but they broadcast different episodes at different times. Plus it gets very confusing. I read the first three chapters already. It's much more intriguing to read it so I don't sleep anymore. I also like how I can read as fast as I want rather than listening to those crazy long dialogues in the show.

Reading the story from the beginning, I understand the plot and concept much better. Knowing that since 1997, over 400 chapters have been released (and still counting!!!) I'm a little overwhelmed. It's really no big deal, though. I'll just read it every once and a while.

The first three chapters already cover alot of ground. Naruto is a young boy (age not given) who lives in the hidden leaf village. In this village, ninjas govern the land. the highest rank ninja is give the title "Hokage". Lowest ninja are "Genin". Naruto dreams to become Hokage someday. The plot of the series mostly revolves around Naruto's struggle, but there are also stories from other characters. At times the story can get really dark and sober. At other times, it can be fun. I know this can all sound way too Japanese, but I think it's knd of cool.

Holes: Reading Log #6

I've watched Holes before about 2 times. In both times I watched it, I never actually got the story. The first time, I was a child so I was to uneducated to understand the point. The second, I wasn't paying attention. Luckily, this movie was based on a book. I decided to read this book to understand the pint of Holes a little better.

I only picked up this book only an hour before this was written, so expect little from this log. I you have never ever heard of this comical story by Louis Sachar, then here's a little snippet of its plot. It goes like this: A boy named Stanley Yelnats (try spelling that backwards!) is the son of a man who wants to find a way to recycle old sneakers. To help out, Stanley picks up an old pair from the ground. It turns out he was actually stealing them. So he gets sent to court with the decision to go to jail or to go to camp. He chose camp, and in that camp he had to dig holes in the ground every day for 18 months if I can recall. There are other sides to this, but I consider those as spoilers.

Now that I'm reading this book I have a lot more understanding on what Hole is about. If I just watched the movie, I wouldn't really be able to say all that about it.

YES! ON A SUNDAY!
Well, I'm about halfway through this book now (don't discriminate me for being a slow reader). Even though I forgot most of the book's story, I still remember some important tidbits from it. I kinda treat those memories as nasty little spoilers.

For those who want to know more about the book since I'm a little farther: this weak little boy -Aidan- has been in the Realm for a while. He stumbles across a kingdom called Alleble. There, he learns to be knight of valor. Unexpectedly, He was able to do it in a week.

This will probably be the last update on the book so I urge you to get a copy.

P.S.- I have no idea what book to read next so someone PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ

make a recommendation in the form of a comment. thx!

Breaking Through; Reading Log #4

Yup. It's breaking through again. I have som'n to say first, but you can skip it if you want.

(You know, I've been so into other books, I started to forget I was still reading this assignment book. Well, it just shows that I'm getting interested in reading again. I still need to set my priorities.)

Oh yeah, back to the book.

So I just finished Reading Breaking Through, and I noticed one strange thing about this autobiographical novel. I found out that each chapter is kinda like a story of its own. what I mean is that you start from any part of the book and end there. Try picking up this book and see what I mean.

Now I'm not encouraging the idea to just read only one part; it's a good story all together.

I don't think there's not much else to say.........nope no other thoughts. Look back on this blog later. The book is still fun even the second time. If you like some different kind of fantasy book, then this is for you.

The story goes like this: there's this boy whose a little less than your average teen. He's been having a hard life after moving away from his state. One day, he stumbles across these scrolls and soon was sent to another world called "The Realm" (this is too simple for a world name, don'cha think?). Thats as far as I can go. the rest of the book I forgot: that's why I'm re-reading it.

I really love how Wayne Thomas Batson combines the real world and fantasy. The conversations get a little strange. The story behind the story is very good and always makes you think. You should pick this book up some time.

cool microsoft sam thingy: roflcopter

Microsoft Sam can't say "soi"!!!!!!

Breaking Through: Reading Log #2

So I'm in chapter 15 now in this book. I don't usually read this on the weekdays, so that's why I'm so behind.

The book gets more interesting as I read it. It really gave me different perspectives in life. As I read along, I always thought about how it would be like living in a life like this (let alone living in the 60's).

The story was very heartwarming and provoking in some cases. I love it when Fransisco's mom helps out her children, but I hate how his dad treats them. "Who could survive a life living with a father like that?!", I always thought to myself.

I also hated how Americans treated the Mexicans in the book. This problem still grows today. I don't see why everyone is so conscious of race these days. Why can't every one just treat each other equally? I just look at every individual as a human being with physical traits common to others, but that's just me.

Me being a amateur hacker and want to get better; I really had no place to start. Then I came across this book in Fry's Electronics called the best of MAKE (a magazine for hackers). I got it and boy did I find some sweet stuff in there! It has all these projects from regular people around the world. Don't be scared to get this book. The projects in there range from extremely easy stuff to things only a major techno geek can do.

The other thing I found out was most of these projects not only came from the MAKE magazine but also from http://www.instructables.com/. There are thousands of hacks in there in different categories like games or home appliances!!

So if you want to be a hacker, I recommend you try these places.

Is Windows too boring for you? That thought changed, though, when I was required to read the book Breaking Through by Fransisco Jimenez.

I've just read the first 6 chapters of the book and boy was that fun! To me, most books have insanley boring intros, but not this one. The book (being narrated in 1st person) somewhat magically puts your face behind the pages. It's like your there watching them without them seeing you.

The book a true, heartwarming story about a family living with illegal immigration. the first part of the book has a lot of stuff in it already. The plot keeps switching from really hapy parts to really sad parts (almost tear-inducing).

I learned a lot of terms fom this book, especially terms in Spanish. The way the author wrote this book helps you use the other words in sentences to help you get the story.

Overall, this book from the start is great, and I think the rest of the book will be just as well.

HELLO EVERYONE!!
and welcome to my blog, the blog of JD

--------------------------------------------

To start off, let me tell you about myself. According to my title, my name is JD. My full name, though, is Jeremias Dulaca II. I am a Filipino, and I live in San Diego, CA. I DONT live in the beach areas SD is known for and I am NOT a surfer; so don't expect me to say "that was epic, man" or "radical, dude!". Seriously! why does everyone think all Californians talk like that?!
What I do for fun is play video games or play outside. One of my favorite hobbies is electonics. I'm usually taking things apart and play with the circuit boards (but I really shouldn't be doing that). I'm not that good with electronics, for I only started this hobby a short while ago. If your a techno geek or some kind of hacker please subscribe to my blog!
I can't list everything about me so I'll just put a list of significant things about me:

I am a born again Christian and love the Lord

I go to High Tech High Chula Vista

I play the piano

I started playing guitar

I had bad experiences in elementary/middle school

I am 13, weigh a little over 200 lbs., and is about 5'8"

I love Nintendo games. Primarily the Super Mario Bros. and the Zelda series.

Love Dogs, Hate Cats.
